Picente: Flags at Half-Staff to Honor Judge Balio
Posted: February 3, 2010
Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente, Jr., today announced that the flags at Oneida County’s buildings are being lowered to half staff in honor of retired New York State Appellate Division Justice John Balio, who died last week.
“John Balio was a distinguished judge and County attorney who was a dedicated public servant and a steadfast defender and upholder of the law,” Picente said. “His service in the Appellate Division earned him the respect of his peers across the state, just as his concerned and compassionate service as an Oneida County Family Court Judge earned him the respect of the children and families who came before him during their difficult times. Judge Balio believed in the law, and he believed in helping people. Oneida County government is honored to show him this sign of our respect by lowering flags at our county offices and buildings.”
