Did you know that over 4.5 million children in the US are being raised in grandparent headed households.  Other kinship caregivers account for a further 1/2 million nationwide.

Whether the absence of parents is due to illness, incarceration, neglect and child abuse, or some other reason, kinship caregivers have their own special set of problems and responsibilities.  The issues of education and healthcare and economic hardship are not least among these.
