Landlord and Codes Department Liaison

The agency has a representative that is a point of contact and a resource for the landlords of Temporary Assistance clients and the city Codes offices.  This Landlord Liaison receives the Dwelling Surveys that are completed by the DSS Services and Resource Divisions, Oneida County Health Department and various community agencies that contract with DSS and conduct routine home visits.  If there is a concern noted on the survey regarding the dwelling the survey is sent to the Code’s Department of the specific village, town or municipality.  In situations where a large number of people live in a building pronounced unfit for habitation, outreach services may be provided to help with relocation efforts and emergency applications.  The liaison also manages the Tenant Responsibility Agreements (TRA); an agreement made by the agency in lieu of a security deposit.  It guarantees one month’s rent to the landlord if the client should move leaving damages.
