Oneida County Raises Child Abuse Awareness

Building and Employees Go Blue, Pinwheels Placed & Caseworkers Recognized

Oneida County is doing its part to raise awareness all April long in recognition of National Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Oneida County raised awareness of efforts to prevent child abuse and neglect in a variety of ways including participating in the New York State Office of Children and Family Services’ “Wear Blue Day” on April 9 and by lighting the Oneida County Office blue for the month of April.

Oneida County Public Defender-Civil Retires

Frank Furno Steps Down After More Than 14 Years of Service

After serving more than 14 years as Oneida County Public Defender-Civil, Frank Furno has retired.

“It truly has been my pleasure to work with the county administration, the other professional department heads and the dedicated workers throughout County government in my call to serve the indigent in distress in our county family courts,” Furno said. “I leave my service satisfied and proud of what we have been able to do for our county.”

Picente Announces Community Safety Initiatives

$500,000 Committed for School Special Patrol Officers; Emergency Services Positions & New DSS Safeguards Created

Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. announced today several initiatives aimed at strengthening community safety.

The multifaceted approach was introduced last month during Picente’s State of the County Address, and the action taken today will help to improve safety in local schools and within the community through funding and departmental changes within Oneida County government.
