Oriskany Airfield Redevelopment Environmental Evaluation
Oneida County proposes to release approximately 723 +/- acres of land that was formerly operated as the Oneida County Airport for long term lease, with option to buy, to the New York State Office of Homeland Security (OHS) for the long-term goal of developing the property into the State Preparedness Training Center (SPTC). The proposed development plan includes the renovation of existing facilities no longer in use and the construction of new facilities within the former airport property for the purposes of providing emergency training to OHS personnel.
The County received funding from the FAA to prepare a Draft Environmental Evaluation Form “C” (Short Environmental Assessment) for Airport Development Projects to assess the potential environmental impacts associated with the land release and redevelopment. This document follows the guidelines and organizational structure recommended in FAA Order 5050.4B, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Implementing Instructions for Airport Actions for preparation of an Environmental Assessment, FAA Order 1050.1E, Environmental Policies and Procedures, for the analysis of impacts.
