Child Preventive Services:

Child Preventive Services provides families with supportive and rehabilitative services that address a threefold need: averting a family separation that could result in a foster care placement; enabling a child to return to his family from placement earlier than otherwise anticipated; and reducing the possibility of a child returning to placement who had previously been discharged from care. Referrals are made to outside agencies for services such as counseling, parent-aides, and parenting classes.

Preventive services are provided to children and their families through contractual agreements with several community agencies in Oneida County.

Foster Care Services:

The Foster Care Program serves children who are in need of a temporary placement outside of a parent’s home. Reasons for the placement are diverse but are essentially based on either a parent or child service need. Children are placed in foster homes, group homes, or institutions based on the child’s level of need.

Adoption / Homefinding Services:

Adoption Services assists legally freed foster children in securing a stable adoptive home and supervises the placement until the adoption is finalized through the court process.

Homefinding Services recruits, trains, certifies, and provides casework counseling services to foster/adoptive parents. Foster and adoptive homes are recruited to meet the needs of children who require either a temporary or permanent placement outside their birth family’s home.
