As part of the planning process, the coalition divided into three work groups tasked with:
  • reviewing and refining the mission, vision and values of the coalition,
  • identifying internal and external stakeholders, and,
  • assessing the environment for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.
Mission/Vision Values
The mission of the Health Coalition is to collaborate, educate, advocate, and promote health and quality of life for people in Oneida County by building a partnership of diverse representatives who are committed to improving the public's health and well-being.
The Coalition has as its vision to become an influential group to address and advocate health and wellness in the community, to promote healthy habits, use our collective resources to effect change and to acquire necessary resources to meet unmet needs by creating a network of agencies and services, and in doing so become a role model as a community.
The Coalition values are articulated as follows:
  • Partnership:  The Coalition will promote collaboration among agencies and services and encourage commitment of members to the Coalition
  • Integrity:  The Coalition will work with integrity, ethics, tolerance, and respect for diversity displaying the utmost of professionalism
  • Wellness:  The Coalition will act to promote a safe community targeting the health, well-being, and quality of life in Oneida County
  • Opportunity:  The Coalition will take every opportunity to advocate and promote inclusion for all citizens of Oneida County
  • Education:  The Coalition will develop a lifelong learning opportunity to enhance the development of families, communities, and individuals by promoting health and wellness in Oneida County
  • Quality:  The Coalition will develop a system of goals to assess the effectiveness of best practices and measure the successes of the Coalition
