MISSION STATEMENT
The overall "mission" of the Oneida County Probation is to advance a balanced triad of agency goals, namely that of ensuring community protection, providing clientele accountability and enabling offenders to be competent and productive citizens.  The "balanced and restorative justice" approach is intended to provide quality "cost-effective" services to our stakeholders within the guidelines of State and local statues and judicial mandates.  We embrace the philosophy that the community, victim and offender should receive balanced attention and in turn should gain tangible benefits from their interaction with the probation department and justice systems as a whole.
We accomplish our mission through;
  • The dedication, ongoing training and excellence of our employees;
  • Cooperating with the community and members of the criminal and juvenile justice system in supporting the law so as to increase our responsiveness to law enforcement agencies and the courts;
  • Increasing clientele accountability using "graduated sanctions" with the goals enhancing community protection and decreasing the likelihood more chronic illegal behavior by the offender.
  • Developing partnerships and collaborative efforts with state and local agencies, as well as the citizenry, in order to develop flexible community based systems of service delivery that will be responsive to the needs of offenders, victims and community;
  • Providing clear and consistent leadership and direction to our organization;
  • Be culturally sensitive, unbiased and respectful of all our stakeholders
