Staff Development is responsible for the assessment, coordination and delivery of training to approximately 525 employees, who, through various job functions, administer the social service programs of this agency.  Staff Development provides an Employee Orientation to all new employees. This office manages the Continuing Education Program which assists employees to further their education and thus enhance their job performance.  Staff Development also serves as a liaison with the county personnel office on matters related to civil service laws and regulations, examination procedures, employee relations, and job classification studies.  The agency’s exit interview process, evaluation system, library, organizational chart, telephone directory, and training records are maintained by Staff Development.  All State sponsored teleconferences are coordinated through this office.  Staff Development represents the agency on a number of state and local committees.  Comprehensive training is delivered to employees in Temporary Assistance, Systems, Services, and Medicaid.

Staff development also helps area high school and college students in obtaining information about Social Services that pertains to their course of study.  This may include interviews and possible internships.
