2010 Oneida County Youth Bureau Sidewalk Art Contest

The 2nd Annual Oneida County Youth Bureau Sidewalk Art Contest was held at county municipalities and youth serving agencies the week of July 12th 2010. Once again, children in age specific categories; 5-7, 8-10, 11-13 and 14-18 had the opportunity to draw a positive scene on a single sidewalk slab with chalk donated by Wal-Mart.

Oneida County Youth Bureau Director Bob Roth and Judges Sydney Waller (Executive Director of the Sculpture Space), Brittany Kline (Admission Counselor at Pratt MWP) and Danelle DePeyster (Children’s Library Assistant at the Utica Public Library) stand behind medal winners from the finals competition at this year’s 2nd Annual Oneida County Youth Bureau Sidewalk Art Contest.
   

This year 656 youth county-wide participated hoping to reach the finals that were held Thursday July 22nd on the sidewalks in front of Pratt Munson William Proctor in Utica. The final competition had 60 youth compete. Medals were given to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in each age category. After the competition all 60 finalists were invited to take a free tour of Munson William Proctor Art Institute.

“It’s an event where you walk into with a smile on your face and walk away from with an even bigger smile on your face,” Oneida County Youth Bureau Director Bob Roth said. “It’s a neat event and a fantastic opportunity for our youth to experience one of the jewels of Oneida County, Munson William Proctor Art Institute.”
The 3rd Annual Oneida County Youth Bureau Sidewalk Art Contest will be held the week of July 11th -15th 2011, with the finals Thursday July 21st on the sidewalks in front of Pratt Munson William Proctor in Utica.
