Cady Assumes Position Effective Immediately

Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. announced today that Patrick D. Cady has been appointed as Director of Probation effective immediately.

“Pat Cady has been an integral part of our Probation Department for 24 years and has made many valuable contributions that have helped to change people’s lives and solidify the safety of this community,” Picente said. “I am confident his experience and leadership will make him an excellent director and that he will continue to serve the County admirably.”

Cady began his career with the Oneida County Probation Department in 1994 as an Adult Supervisor Officer, and then spent time as a Juvenile Supervisor Officer and Supervisor before being named Deputy Director of the department in 2013.

Prior to his County employment, Cady worked as a PINS Diversion Counselor at Family Services of Greater Utica Inc. and as a Senior Child Care Worker at the House of the Good Shepherd.

He currently serves on the Oneida County Alternative to Incarceration and Traffic Safety boards, is on the Whitestown Youth Association Golf Tournament Fundraiser Committee and is a past member of the Whitestown Youth Association.

“I would like to thank County Executive Picente for appointing me to this position,” Cady said. “I look forward to continuing the work of recently retired Probation Director Dave Tomidy. Oneida County Probation will continue to focus on community safety, while rehabilitating the offender utilizing a variety of alternatives to incarcerations.”

Cady graduated from Camden High School and received a BS in Criminal Justice from the State University College at Buffalo with a minor in Juvenile Delinquency.

He lives in Whitesboro with his wife Gail, a retired Waterville School teacher. The couple has two adult children.
