Overview

The Oneida County Office of Traffic Safety coordinates the traffic safety efforts in Oneida County. In cooperation with federal and state agencies along with local enforcement, engineering, and educational organizations, it is the mission of the office to create and maintain the safest possible environment on Oneida County's highways.

This office approves and administers local traffic safety grants and offers the National Traffic Safety Council's Defensive Driver Course and the "Alive at 25" Program.

  • The “Alive at 25” Program is a four-hour driver educational course open to young people between the ages of 16 to 25 years old. It is taught by National Safety Council certified instructors at the Oneida County Traffic Safety Office in Oriskany.
  • Research indicates that vehicular accidents are caused by speeding, inexperience, distraction, and peer pressure, among other factors.
  • Register for a defensive driving course by calling Mohawk Valley Community College at (315) 792-5300.
