Bill Payer Program
Purpose
The Oneida County Office for the Aging and Continuing Care Bill Payer Program was developed by AARP and provided by RSVP through the Parkway Senior Center. The program is in place in order to ensure area seniors are able to
maintain their independence in the community by gaining control of their finances. Typically seniors get overwhelmed by budgeting bills and regular expenses. This program allows for seniors to access an accounting representative to enter their home to assist in the process of paying bills on time, organizing billing cycles, and budget the client bank accounts.
Scope
The objective of this program is to assist seniors in tracking regular bill paying and addressing problems that may arise such as late bill paying, and over use of debt cards. The client may have to adjust their way of spending in order to maintain their budgeting practice. The goal of the program is to result in a workable solution to ongoing bill paying practices, grocery shopping and on occasion be able to save income to create a small savings plan within the specific guidelines for special needs or even vacation (allowable savings: SSI- $2,000 / others: $4,000).
