Volunteer Projects: Interaction with Senior Citizen Residents, Wait on tables, Christmas Cards

 

Summary: Throughout the year youth volunteers from Utica Municipal Housing buildings at Adrean Terrace, Gilmore Village and Perretta Twin Towers, interacted bi-monthly, with senior citizen residents. They played different games with the seniors and waited on tables at the various (e.g. birthday) parties the housing buildings held.
 

At Christmas, the youth volunteers made Christmas cards for the senior citizen armed forces veterans at the housing buildings. They also made Christmas cards and mailed the cards to our soldiers fighting overseas.

The youth volunteers enjoyed the interaction with the senior citizen residents, especially listening to the stories the armed forces veterans shared with them. The youth volunteers felt a sense of pride by providing these services to senior citizens in their community.
