Oneida County STOP-DWI Baseball & Softball Classic Set for May 10-11

The 2nd Annual Oneida County STOP-DWI Baseball & Softball Classic will take place on May 10th and 11th at Hamilton College.

After 10 years of being strictly a baseball event, the Classic incorporated softball last year, and it was a huge success. That new tradition continues this year with a full slate of games from each side of the high school diamond.

The event serves as the cornerstone of Oneida County's campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of driving while under the influence of drugs and alcohol among local teenagers. Together with its educational partners, the county focuses on the ills young people face today, including texting and driving and teen dating violence.

The STOP-DWI Baseball & Softball Classic coincides with the county's Teen Traffic Safety Education Program which is presented in local school districts just prior to junior proms, senior balls and graduation season.

The Classic is presented together with Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, New York State Department of Transportation, the Center for Family Life and Recovery, Helio Health and the Oneida County Health Department.

It is sponsored by Adirondack Bank, Mohawk Valley Community College, First Source Federal Credit Union, Cooperstown Bat Company, Tents Plus, Preferred Mutual, JDE Computer Staffing Inc. and Cliff's Local Market.
